Care &

Maintainence

  • To maintain the beauty of your furniture, place it in areas where it won’t be frequently moved. Always use coasters or trivets for glasses, mugs, or hot dishes to prevent rings and marks. Regularly dust the surface with a soft cloth to keep it pristine.

  • Our furniture is crafted for indoor elegance. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity, which can affect its finish. While teak and cane are resilient, keeping them away from windows and balconies will help preserve their natural beauty.

  • Our teak furniture is designed to last a lifetime. To ensure its continued allure:

    • Oiling/Waxing: Teak’s color deepens beautifully with age. While periodic oiling isn’t required, applying hard wax oil can restore any discoloration from sunlight or cleaning. We recommend Kneho or Fiddes hard wax oils.

    • Cleaning: Regular cleaning is essential. For sticky spots, gently wipe with a soft cloth dampened with a mixture of water and mild dish detergent. Follow with a dry cloth and reapply hard wax oil if needed.

    • Repairing Heat Rings: Remove heat rings by using a hair dryer on a low setting, moving it steadily over the stains. Alternatively, cover the stain with a towel and press an iron on low heat.

  • Our hand-woven cane furniture combines beauty with durability. To extend its life:

    • Use Seat Cushions: Place cushions on cane seats to evenly distribute weight and protect against damage.

    • Avoid Excess Weight: Refrain from standing or kneeling on cane seats to prevent breakage.

    • Protect from Extreme Conditions: Keep cane furniture away from intense heat, low humidity, and direct sunlight to prevent brittleness.

    • Clean Promptly: Wipe off spills with a soft, moist cloth immediately to prevent staining.

    • Address Mildew: In humid environments, clean any mildew with diluted soap water and a soft brush or cloth. Allow the cane to air dry for 48 hours.

    • Oil Regularly: Every six months, apply linseed oil, teak oil, or a similar product to keep the cane supple. Use a soft cloth or brush and let it dry for 24 hours.

  • Our upholstery fabrics, including velvets, woolens, cotton, and silks, require specific care to retain their charm:

    • Vacuum Regularly: Remove dust with a vacuum or soft brush to prevent damage and maintain freshness.

    • Use Fabric Protectors: Apply a fabric protector spray like 3M Scotchgard once a year to help prevent stains.

    • Handle Stains Promptly: Blot spills with paper towels and lift solid spills with a knife. Test cleaning solvents in a hidden area before applying them.

    • Turn and Fluff Cushions: Rotate and fluff cushions regularly to maintain their shape and extend their lifespan.

    • Care for Velvets: Vacuum velvet regularly and use a garment steamer to smooth out any creases. Always test cleaning products on a discreet area first.

    • Avoid Sunlight: Protect upholstery from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Ensure good ventilation to avoid odors and airborne pollutants.
